The Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve is a privately-owned, 80,000 acre sustainably managed forest, striking a balance between the day-to-day requirements of an operational business and the long-term requirements of sustainable resource use and conservation.
Over the past 50 years its 80,000 acres have been transformed from a depleted forestry holding into a thriving multi-use operation, which contributes economically and environmentally to the long-term stability of the surrounding rural community, while providing employment as well as environmental benefits to owners, staff and the public at large.
The Haliburton Forest is Canada’s first Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified forest, a distinction which extends to our sawmill and confirms our leading role in conservation and sustainable resource management. Our customers benefit by getting carefully crafted, environmentally produced, economically priced wood products and by their purchase support sound forest management in Ontario.
For twenty years, since our earliest prototype log buildings in 1993, EcoLog has designed and sold over 200 log home kits across North America, all built from the Eastern Hemlock grown in our carefully-managed forests.
Please setup an appointment with Peter Redman if you like to meet him or to look at any existing EcoLog homes.
